Corn Wet Milling

Starch production

Starch technology for corn, wheat, potato and cassava feedstocks, with process and plant design based on raw-material characteristics.

4 feedstocksCorn · Wheat · Potato · Cassava

Product overview

  • Starch is a major food constituent and industrial raw material; commercial starch and starch milk serve finished-product and downstream uses.
  • Focus on main/by-product utilization, equipment selection, heat and process-water circulation.

Starch is a major component of food and an important industrial raw material. Corn wet milling has been the standard extraction method since the early 19th century. Improved equipment, abundant year-round corn supply and better by-product utilization have expanded processing capacity.

Corn wet milling is the example shown. Wheat, potato and cassava require feedstock-specific design.

Figures & advantages

< 2 tWastewater per tonne of commercial starch
01

Closed-cycle corn wet milling

Integration of advanced processes and production concepts to improve main-product and by-product yields and quality. Typical figures: 70% dry-basis starch yield and over 5.5% dry-basis gluten meal yield.

02

Chinese-made main equipment

Advanced equipment made in China forms the main equipment package to reduce capital cost.

03

Accurate, automated process control

Centralized DCS control supports high automation, reduced manual intervention, precise control and stable processes.

04

Closed-circuit water reuse

Process-water reuse reduces thermal consumption and effluent. Typical figures: less than 0.6 t steam and less than 2 t wastewater discharge per tonne of commercial starch, reducing operating cost and treatment load.

Typical KORN process figures and technical advantages. Final parameters are subject to project design and the technical agreement.
